Alexandre Attar
Software Engineering Student | Mobile & Front-End Developer

My name is Alexandre, I'm a soft drink connoisseur and a 2nd year Software Engineering student at Concordia University with a passion for mobile developpement who is currently looking for a software engineering/developer internship.

Ever since I picked up my first iPhone, I was intrigued by the apps on the phone. Not only did I wanted to create something of my own, but ultimately an application that will excite people the way I was the first time I played on the iPhone.

About 4 years ago, I was watching the annual iPhone Apple event. At this event, they presented a new programming language Swift. I remember how the programmers we excited about the news. Personally, I thought it was such a "nerd" reaction to being excited over a new programming language. However, at that time, I was not sure what I wanted to do in life and decided to give it a try since I always wanted to learn how to code.
The Next month, I picked up the official Swift programming language book on the iBooks app and start reading. It was not the easiest read since I knew nothing about code, but I didn't want to give up. I decided to search online for help. While searching, I stumbled upon some videos explaining some basic programming concepts. Later I found a video explaining Swift. Once I started to understand the concepts. I started to understand how to write functions, dictionaries, classes, etc., and what I could do with them. However, I wanted to use what I learned to build something. From there I started building small iOS projects.

A year after, I decided to enroll into software engineering in university. I have complete 2 years, while working part-time and working on some personal mobile projects that I list further. In University I learned the following programming languages: Java, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, PHP. As well as reinforce, my computer science knowledge.

I played Basketball for most of my academic life. I started back in highschool around the age of 12. I played at relativly high level until my second year of college when I decided to stop playing competitively. While I was playing I would practice some a group of kids at my local highschool. I was not the main coach but I would assist the coach with the drills and help the kids practice their technic, positionning, and reaction.

URBCY is an application I create with very limited time for a friend studying Urbanism. This project helped her gather statistics for her Master's Thesis. I implimented Facebook SDK and used their API to login and sign up new users. I, also, implemented Firebase for the server side and the authentication process.
Weather app is an application that gives the user the current weather. The app was created with Swift 4 on XCode using Dark Sky API. I also used iPhone location capabilities to geolocate the user and display the relevante information for them.
Review app is project where I experimented with the Apple Maps framework. It helped me to further understand the workings of Apple Maps as well as how to implement it in a project.
ITunes Search App was the first application where I worked with a web API in my mobile development journey. I had trouble with the performance which led me to search and learn about multi-threading.

If you have any question on any of my projects or simply to chat, don't hesitate to contact me through any of my social medias or by email.
