My name is Alexandre, I'm a soft drink connoisseur and a 2nd year Software Engineering student at Concordia University with a passion for mobile developpement who is currently looking for a software engineering/developer internship.
Ever since I picked up my first iPhone, I was intrigued by the apps on the phone. Not only did I wanted to create something of my own, but ultimately an application that will excite people the way I was the first time I played on the iPhone.
About 4 years ago, I was watching the annual iPhone Apple event. At this event, they presented a new programming language Swift. I remember how the programmers we excited about the news. Personally, I thought it was such a "nerd" reaction to being excited over a new programming language.
However, at that time, I was not sure what I wanted to do in life and decided to give it a try since I always wanted to learn how to code.
The Next month, I picked up the official Swift programming language book on the iBooks app and start reading. It was not the easiest read since I knew nothing about code, but I didn't want to give up. I decided to search online for help. While searching, I stumbled upon some videos explaining some basic programming concepts. Later I found a video explaining Swift.
Once I started to understand the concepts. I started to understand how to write functions, dictionaries, classes, etc., and what I could do with them. However, I wanted to use what I learned to build something. From there I started building small iOS projects.
A year after, I decided to enroll into software engineering in university. I have complete 2 years, while working part-time and working on some personal mobile projects that I list further.
In University I learned the following programming languages: Java, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, PHP. As well as reinforce, my computer science knowledge.

My role as a web developer for the Octopus division of ESI is to help write and create the front-end of the program (web app) using React.Js. I helped to develop End-To-End (e2e) test programs using Protractor, React.js, and selenium. I also assisted with the creation of our test infrastructure for our e2e tests.
Jul.2018 - Dec.2018
During my internship at ESI technologies, I was part of the Octopus department, where I had the opportunity to touch and be part of different aspects in the development of their web platform. I contributed to the front-end development of new plugins for their web application. I was, also, in charge of the end-to-end testing. I had the opportunity to learn a lot about the development process for a product that has an active user base.

I believe after more than 4 years of work experience at the claims department of Intact, I have acquired skills that could benefit any workforce. I worked as claims agent at the Claims Department, I have participated on numerous projects at the department such as coaching new employees. A part from being an agent, I was selected by my superiors as a reference for my colleagues and assistants. I believe that my skills, knowledge and hardworking personality awarded me an outstanding performance (200%) this year which is the highest level of performance at Intact. Apart from opening claim files, I helped our department with creations of some tools using Visual Basic to facilitate our work and optimize our workflow.

I played Basketball for most of my academic life. I started back in highschool around the age of 12. I played at relativly high level until my second year of college when I decided to stop playing competitively. While I was playing I would practice some a group of kids at my local highschool. I was not the main coach but I would assist the coach with the drills and help the kids practice their technic, positionning, and reaction.
If you have any question on any of my projects or simply to chat, don't hesitate to contact me through any of my social medias or by email.
